Evaluation
Throughout this module i have learned many different things from a theoretical and practical side of Graphic Design. I have enjoyed carrying out the research for sustainable design, it has made me more aware of things that can be done and things that need to be done, it has made me feel more strongly towards sustainability and that it is very important for Graphic Designers to think about doing. Not only this but the research has shown me the impacts of not being sustainable and the implications on the environment and climate. I enjoyed writing my dissertation because i think i was able to get across a message that i agreed strongly with and put across some strong points. I also looked into some interesting areas of innovation and this has opened my eyes to some studios and designers who are making waves within sustainable design. Something that i think has worked really well is the practical piece, where the quality is high and the content has a strong synthesis with the essay. The content is relevant and in-depth and is actually something that is helpful for designers and studios. Taking the images has helped me develop on my photography skills and i am more confident at taking good pictures of my work now than when i last took images, as seen by the images from this module. I also think the packaging has worked well because it is different to other packaging and works perfectly for a mail out.
Something that i think hasn't worked well is that i could have done more publications to give a wider range of information for the designers, i also would have liked to have used sustainable methods in every aspect of my designs, such as the printing where i would have liked to use vegetable based inks, but time and money were against me and so i couldn't do this, i also would have used sustainable methods for the website, which again i would have liked to have got coded if time was permitting. Something else i think could have been better was the way in which i presented the website, i think i could have shown how it worked better and been more detailed about the collaboration page. I could also have shown every page and who they worked which would have given the website more context with my publications and essay.
I think in terms of the module as a whole i have put a lot of effort into the making and writing of my essay equally and i have been to all the sessions for the module, having a 100% attendance and a positive attitude and positive contribution to the module.
