Glyphs
I feel a glyph offers a perfect opportunity for a logo, this would then also relate it to typography which is what the brief is about
These are three glyphs i found on indesign on the typeface Zapfino, i think the shape of them offers a lot and with a little editing on illustrator they could be worked into something strong. They would work really well if i was to go for a up market initial pizza restaurant which was one of my ideas
Looking into points and picas
- A point is a unit of measurement that is the standard for measuring type and is used for measuring depth of printing. One point is equal to .013836 of an inch and 72 points are approximately 1 inch.
- A pica is a typesetting unit of measurement commonly used for measuring lines of type. One pica equals 12 points. There are 6 picas to an inch.
- A standard US letter size page is 8.5 by 11 inches or 51 by 66 picas. (6 picas are approximately 25 mm)
- The letter p is used to designate picas as in 22p or 6p. With 12 points to the pica, half a pica would be 6 points written as 0p6. 17 points would be 1p5 (1 pica = 12 pts, plus the leftover 5 pts).
Six picas = 1 inch
Twelve picas = 2 inch
Eighteen picas = 3 inch
Twenty four picas = 4 inch

I think this is a very clever idea, the word if very type related and the colours and the font resemble the chosen place of Netherlands well. I really like the simplicity of this idea, it resembles typography but isn't too confusing.
This person focused solely on type for every aspect of the project, inside and out, menu place mats ect. I feel this is a good idea and has worked in some aspects but its so heavily typography that it becomes confusing.

i think these provide a rustic look, but are not quite as sophisticated as id like, they need to be more exquisite, have a bit more class.
